My name is Casie Tidwell, and I’m a current freshman at the University of Alabama. I’m majoring in Biology on the Pre-Veterinary Medicine Track. My dream is to one day own my own Veterinary Clinic that serves both large and small animals. I also aim to start a no-kill animal shelter in tandem with my clinic that will strive to transport animals out to places with higher crowding and to places with more adoption demand in order to eliminate the use of euthanasia due to overcrowding.
Intro
I grew up in a Filipino-American household in a predominately white community. When I was younger, it was hard for me to come to terms with being different and to accept my culture. With time, I grew to love the Filipino side of me and take pride in my family’s culture. Going through this struggle with cultural identity has taught me how to take pride in who I am, no matter how different from others I may be, and I’ve gained a confidence in myself that I carry with me in all aspects of my life.
Early Life
Along with being a full time student at the University of Alabama, I am a member of the Million Dollar Band Colorguard and Alta Marea Winterguard. Having the privilege to be a part of these groups have taught me how to have the grit to apply myself and give something my all even in difficult times. Long practices have taught me the importance of mindset in order to get things done and to the best of my ability not only for the benefit of myself, but for my teammates as well.
Hobbies
I was raised in a Christian household, and as I’ve grown up I’ve maintained and deepened my connection with Christian values and beliefs. One of the biggest values I have is service. I believe in serving others in any way that I can. This drives me to volunteer whenever I can, or even take small actions in my day-to-day life in order to help those around me.

Strengths and Places of Growth
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to talk to communicate with others. It’s a tool that proves very useful when working with others and when trying to communicate to customers or clients. One thing that I am going to keep growing in is my time management. I have started to make use of a planner in my day-to-day life, and I’ve started to lay out a set schedule for the week, so I can get what I need to get done done without procrastinating.
